It's been a sad day at the Palmer house.
Our neglect and poor parenting have fostered 2 fatalities.
2 beautiful creatures have passed away
and 3 more were badly disoriented.
The scorching summer sun and lack of frequent watering sadly produced the loss of two of our lovely chickens.
It has been a somber day indeed.
It's hard to cope with the fact that your negligence murdered two innocent animals.
Makes me realize even more how fragile life is and the importance of due diligence.
The good news is that my children are all still alive and thriving,
though they are a little disturbed by the news that the chickens they thought were just sleeping
are now buried in the dirt in our backyard.
Farewell Peach. So long Henny (or maybe it was Penny or Jenny - the three all looked alike).
Thank you for the delicious eggs and playful running-about with my children.
You will be missed.
(and we promise to take better care of your friends)

Oh no! How tragic! This is actually the only thing holding me up from getting chickens at this point. Judging from my history with plants, I am not at all confident that I could keep chickens alive, and I couldn't bear to be responsible for killing them. :(
