Father of the Year

Father of the YearAward 001crop

We’ve got a Father of the Year in this here house. Complete with Certificate and jar of chocolates {no cash prize – shucks!}.

Father of the Year 006cropThe awards ceremony was inspiring, but long, with many deserving recipients of various awards. Greg said he felt out of place, but I thought he fit right in.

The kids, however, were not their reverent selves [insert sarcasm] and it was difficult to keep them from distracting. Father of the Year 004crop

Then Greg was called up and introduced. And as if on cue during the speech, Taryn suddenly escaped my watch and ran up to the front, joyfully yelling “Daddy, Daddy” and was scooped up into her Father’s loving arms. It was a crowd-pleaser for sure. Couldn’t have planned that better myself.

I’m so proud of Greg. He doesn’t feel like he has done anything special or out-of-the-ordinary to deserve this prize. He has just been a loving, willing, and present father. That might seem pretty ordinary to him.

But I think it is extra-ordinary.
